Orcas Island, WA

We are grateful to share one of our special places with our loved ones. The San Juan Islands hold a significant place in our hearts, filled with memories that reflect our journey together. From walks to sunsets, every moment spent here has contributed to our growth as a couple and given us the space to dream about our future.

One of our dreams has always been to hold our wedding ceremony on Orcas Island, surrounded by the people we love most. This location has always been where we envisioned this event. We want to create an experience that spans multiple days, allowing us to share not just our big moments but also the simple joys—like morning coffees, walks, and sunsets.

We are excited to celebrate this time with all of you, sharing our love story and the beauty of this place that means so much to us. Your presence will make this occasion even more meaningful, and we look forward to creating new memories together. Thank you for being part of our journey; we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Travel Options

Some of our guests have visited the islands before, some call it home, and others are coming here for the first time. We want to be mindful of everyone’s travel plans and support you as much as possible. There are several options for getting here, and we’ve outlined them below.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you need assistance in determining the best travel plan for you!

  • Unless you're already in Washington, your first step will be flying into Seattle (SEA-TAC Airport). Please plan your travel from home to SEA-TAC accordingly.

Given travel distances, it might be convenient to arrive in Seattle on Wednesday and stay overnight before continuing to Orcas Island.

For the return trip, consider staying in Seattle on Sunday night and flying home on Monday for a smoother journey back.

  • Kenmore Air operates daily flights to and from the islands. They offer both wheeled planes and sea planes. For the time of year we recommend booking a wheeled plane from Boeing Field (Seattle) to East Sound Airport (Orcas Island). Boeing Field is a short distance from SEA-TAC Airport, and there is a shuttle provided between the two for passengers.

If you are flying to and from Orcas and have questions, please call Kenmore Air to help plan your flight travel times.

You can find information on Kenmore Air flights HERE

  • If you wish to travel by ferry, you will need to catch a Washington State Ferry from Anacortes, WA in order to access the islands. Anacortes is two hours north of SEA-TAC (without traffic). If you are planning on taking the ferry for the first time, please check in with us so we can make sure your timing will work.

Driving On: You can reach the ferry by renting a car at SEA-TAC, driving to Anacortes, then driving your car onto the ferry. This will enable you to have a car on Orcas Island for the weekend. If you plan to bring a vehicle across, you must make a reservation in advance.

Washington State Ferries (WSF) releases reservation spaces in three groups:

    • Two months before: One-third of spaces are released

    • Two weeks before: One-third of spaces are released

    • Two days before: One-third of spaces are released

You can find the most up to date ferry reservation info HERE

Walking On: If you prefer not to rent a car, you can take the Bel-Air Shuttle from SEA-TAC to the ferry terminal and walk onto the ferry. For those driving but not bringing their car onto the island, ample parking is available at the terminal for a nominal fee, allowing you to walk on instead.

Shuttle information can be found HERE

  • This is the coldest of all options. Unless you are an Orca , an adventurous bear, or a determined deer, we do not recommend this to our loved ones.

A note on weather

Late May/early June should be lovely in the PNW. Spring will be springing and we anticipate regenerating vegetation after a dormant winter, filling the undergrowth of the lush evergreen forest with verdant green hues.

Weather is variable this time of year, and conditions can be sunny and warm or cool and drizzly. We will contact all of you in the weeks leading up to the wedding with a note on how to pack and what we may expect.

Whatever the weather, this time of year is a magical shoulder season that sees birds and whales return to islands that support them during bountiful summer months.
